Azpilicueta has its origins in 1881, in a small vineyard in Fuenmayor in the La Rioja region. Its founder was a pioneering character and one of the most important figures in the history of wine: Félix Azpilicueta Martínez. This is the origin of the winery. And that in itself is quite something. But in order to reach true distinction, it is necessary to go further. To have an idea to pursue throughout the years, and a desire to be and to remain. Azpilicueta is origins and time. Time which moves slowly to nourish the earth and give strength to the vines. Time which almost stands still to age the wines. Combined time. Time invested in field work, in sophisticated research into wine-growing and in the simple act of waiting.
