The selection of wood for barrels is a key decision in the wine-making process. Azpilicueta Selección de Barricas has been crafted in French oak barrels made from wood directly chosen from the Hallate, Vacheresse and Jupille forests.
The French oak chosen by our team of winemakers has been crafted with care by master coopers, working with the innate character of the wood to ensure a harmonious relation with the personality of the wine.
Azpilicueta Selección de Barricas is kept in French oak barrels for 18 months and bottles for 6 months.
Appearance: its deep, intense cherry red colour is combined with golden inflections.
Nose: intense and spicy, deepening into chocolatey notes.
Palate: well-balanced and elegant, it highlights the presence of mature fruit on the palate, together with light spicy notes such as nutmeg and pepper.
Carnes a la brasa, arroces, risottos, atún, bonito, quesos semicurados.
